Can I log in to the dashboard on my phone or tablet?  

•  Yes. The Modern Polling portal dashboard is available on mobile. 

What does each colour represent under Battery? 

• Green (good)  > 50 %   
• Amber (alert)  20-49%   
• Red (warning) < 19 %     

​Can I send any iPad to any polling station?  

• Yes, the register downloaded is determined by who has signed on to the iPad not the hardware used.   

Will the iPads last the whole of polling day on one charge?  

• No, the iPads will come with chargers and polling staff should ensure they are kept charged. If the polling station does not have an accessible power supply, then you should send power banks.  

How do I know that polling station staff have logged in?  

• Go to the Modern Polling portal. Go to the election. 
• Select the Election Support tab. 
• The polling stations are listed. When Polling Station Staff have logged in their details will appear against their station. 
• All Poll Clerks should log in prior to opening of the polls. 

​How do I see the turnout?  

• Go to the Modern Polling portal. Go to the election. 
• Select the Election Support tab. 
• The overall turnout is displayed  
• The polling stations are listed. The turnout of each station is displayed against that station. 

​How quickly does an emergency proxy show on the iPad?  

• Assuming the polling station is online the data will be synced in real time.   
• Any clerical errors or emergency proxies will synchronise to iPads as they are made. If an iPad does not have an internet connection, it will appear once it reconnects. 

When will the Ballot Paper Account(s) - BPA's be ready?  

• The BPA’s will be ready as the Polling Stations are closed, when the Presiding Officer submits the Ballot Paper Account (BPA). 

​Can I see all the Ballot Paper Account(s) - BPA's in one document?  

•  Yes. From the Overview screen, select Election Reports. 
• Select Amalgamated Reports. 
• The Amalgamated BPA will contain every Polling Station BPA. 

Can I print the Ballot Paper Account(s) - BPA's?  

• Yes. Download the BPA’s for printing. 

​What reports are ready at close of poll?  

•  The BPA and VIDEF are ready at Close of Poll. 
• Additional Reports are generated on demand post election. 

When will the marked registers be ready?  

• When the Polling Stations have all been closed, go the Modern Polling Portal. 
• From the overview screen select Election Reports. 
• Select Generate Reports. This will generate the Marked Registers and CNL’s. 

​When will the Corresponding Number List(s) - CNL's be ready?  

•  When the Polling Stations have all been closed (e.g, the BPA has been submitted at close of poll), go the Modern Polling Portal. 
• From the overview screen select Election Reports. 
• Select Generate Reports.
• This will generate the Marked Registers and CNL’s. 

Are there any user guides to give to polling station staff?  

•  Yes. In the Resources page. The guides can be downloaded and printed for Polling Station staff. 

​How do I check battery status at the polling stations?  

• From the Overview tab on the Portal, select election support. 
• The election data will display.
• The section Low Battery will display the number of iPads with low battery.
• Select the number and it will highlight the polling station(s) with the low battery. 

When do I give out contingency iPads?  

• Contingency iPads can be distributed when there has been a hardware failure.
• For example an iPad which is not charging or has broken. 

There is an issue with the iPad chargers  

• Additional chargers have been supplied.
• These can be given to the Poll Station Inspector (PSI) to distribute to the Polling Stations which require replacement chargers. 

​Where can I see notes made by the PC / PO Polling Station Staff?  

• If there are Notes on the Ballot Paper Account, they can be viewed on the portal. On the Overview page, scroll down beneath the Turnout graphs and click on the BPA tab. Under the ‘Notes’ column click on the notes icon. If there are notes, they will be displayed providing the staff in the polling station had internet connectivity when they saved the notes.   
• Poll Clerks can make notes on the View BPA screen on the Modern Polling App throughout the day and Save. 
• Presiding Officers can make notes on the View BPA screen on the Modern Polling App at the close of Poll, before submitting the BPA.
