​Can I upload a ballot file on minus 5?  

• No. Modern Polling only accepts a ballot file on minus 16.  

Do I need to upload polling station registers on minus 5?  

• Yes. The final registers must be uploaded on minus 5. 

Can I upload a staff allocation file?  

• Staff Allocation file must be uploaded on minus 5. 

​Do I need to upload a Absent Voter file (which contains proxies) on minus 5?  

• Yes. The Proxy Absent Voter file must be uploaded on Minus 5 after the registers have been uploaded. 

Can I upload after minus 5?  

• No. No data can be uploaded after the final minus 5 upload of registers and the Proxy Absent Voter file.
• Any edits can be done on the Modern Polling portal after this.
• These include editing an electors details, adding clerical additions and adding an emergency proxy and polling station staff details. 

​Uncontested election, can I upload a new ballot file?  

• No. Ballot files cannot be replaced. You must delete your election and create a new election. 

How do I make staff changes?  

• Staff changes can be made on the Modern Polling portal.  
• Go to the election Overview screen. 
• Go to the polling station requiring the staff change. Under “Actions” select the pen icon.
• A pop up will appear to Add/Edit a polling station member, or move the Polling Station staff to a new station.
